Ann’s practice is based in Ashtanga Yoga. She has studied with Paul Dallaghan and Neil Barker, as well as trained in Mysore with Sharath Jois. She currently practices Mysore at least five times a week.
Ann’s teaching focuses on Pranayama, guiding the students to find a smooth and steady breath. The heat energy that the breath creates in the body, the focus of one’s vision and the careful listening to the rhythm of the breath can all help to cultivate focus and openness to the senses and sensations. Together with a progression of asana moving from the shallow to the deep, this coordinates the body’s movement with the flow of breath and allows one to find the stability in meditative movement, a connection to the internal, and a harmonious balance of body and mind.
